Sarah Grace Stevenson, LMFT-A

A Message From Sarah Grace:

Family has the potential to be the most rewarding part of our lives, but it is often what gives us the most stress. Whether raising kids or navigating a marriage, my heart is for families I work with to find as much joy and love as possible in their most valuable relationships.

When we start seeking out romantic partners, we seek out what is familiar- what we learned from our parents or caregivers. Sometimes our parents gave us great examples of what a future relationship should be like; other times, our parents showed us what to avoid in those relationships. As adults we are continually trying to recreate what feels comfortable in our future relationships based on our past experiences, namely, our childhood environments. Things can go wrong when we have unmet emotional needs from childhood and then project them onto our partner. This can lead to many disappointments and failed expectations.

Parenting is, in one word, a journey. You have so many hopes and dreams for your little one, but you may find yourself feeling absolutely lost and overwhelmed along the way. I hear many parents describe feeling as though they even come face-to-face with many of their own issues that they have not addressed throughout the years that can greatly affect the parent/child relationship. This is a precious time in your child’s life, and I absolutely love teaching parents how to navigate these years. Children experience the same difficulties that adults do; it just looks very different. I come along children, teens, and families to learn the best strategies to successfully accomplish their hopes and dreams they have had since the beginning.

A Little About Me Personally: On the weekends, you can find me binge watching the latest true crime documentary or reading a thick fiction novel. I spend lots of time with family and friends, and I love to spend time in the kitchen cooking. I’m also a mama to two doggies that I love very much.
